During my recent trip to Southwold, I was eager to visit the Adnams 'Make Your Own Gin' Experience, a unique opportunity to learn about gin-making from the experts. The Crown's convenient location drew me in, but what pleasantly surprised me was the passionate staff who shared their extensive knowledge about Adnams and its history. The highlight was creating my own gin with one of the skilled gin makers, an lovely experience! I enjoyed a lovely lunch at one of the other Adnams pubs, where I was impressed by Head Chef Rob Mace and his team's commitment to using fresh, seasonal produce.
The room was hot, even with the windows open and no heaters running. The heating in the landing may have contributed to this discomfort.

All in all everything was first-class, had a lovely stay in wonderful town. Location: the hotel was right by the local pubs and beach and beautiful Southwold at The Crown. I tried some drinks at bar Sole Bay Inn, located 10 minutes walk away. Double room was light and the food was incredible.

review: Charming location right on the high street made exploring Southwold easy, and the complimentary Adnams beer was a nice touch. Service was friendly and professional, but the shower pressure was inconsistent. Enjoyed a spacious room, though some noisy seagulls made for an early wake-up. , rating: 7, date of stay: 2024-08-15}

Would recommend for a brief stopover
Comfortable room, and excellent breakfast. The room was well-equipped with a tv and electric kettle, while the hotel's central location allowed us easy access to local attractions.
Absolutely nothing to criticize.

Our end-of-summer stay at the Crown Hotel for my son’s birthday was good. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the added touches of Ghost Ship and crisps in the room were much appreciated. Breakfast was really good! We enjoyed nearby attractions like the Southwold Lighthouse and the Adnams distillery for bonding moments, though the restaurant service felt slow at times. a lovely trip back to our old friends in Southwold!

I had a pleasant stay, with a comfortable room that had charming character. The location is fantastic, right in the town center, and the staff was wonderfully friendly and accommodating.
The hotel breakfast menu could include a greater variety of hot options to enhance the experience.

Love the location, right in the heart of southwold. The room was a good size n cozy, extra touches like beer in the room were nice. Breakfast was delish, loved the reading room for chillin out. Staff were friendly n helpful too.
Only downside was it got a bit too hot in the room even with the window open. Some noise from seagulls early in the morning was annoying.

Location's spot on High Street puts you right in the middle of things, just a five-minute stroll to the beach. The room features a comfy layout, complete with a kettle, cafetiere, and snacks like Adnams beer and crisps-a nice touch after a long day exploring.
The interior shows its age with worn carpets and some tired decor. My room felt cramped, and condensation covered the windows, while leaks in the corridor raised some eyebrows. Breakfast varied dramatically. One day was decent, but the next I faced burned bacon and overly sweet pancakes, which didn't match the quality of the dinner. While the snug bar adds character, it lacks the vibe of a dedicated lounge area was nice. A bit more attention to cleanliness when seating customers would also go a long way.

Great location and fab food!
We stayed for 3 nights and loved it. The spot is perfect, just a quick stroll to the beach. Staff were super friendly and the breakfast was excellent, especially those kippers! Dinner was nice too, but the service could've been better, our waitress seemed a bit forgetful at times. A nice relaxing stay.

It was just a reliable pick for short visits in Southwold with great value for the money. The fish and chips were lovely, with a divine batter and delicious chip shop curry sauce. Check out the Adnams shop a short walk away for amazing drinks.

Oh, the fresh orange juice was pure bliss, and I adored the mini Roberts dab radio in my room! Plus, the location on the high street made it easy to explore local gems like Two Magpies Bakery right around the corner.
The Crown's got a charming quirkiness, but the old woodwork and a few tired passages could use a bit of TLC. It's more than made up for with all the lovely details!
